Foster Care

May is National Foster Care Monty- a time to honor and celebrate
the compassionate people who make room in their lives for the more
than half a million children in foster care. But the complex issues and
policy decisions that affect the children and youth in this nation's foster
care system require attention and action all year round.

The number of kids in foster care has doubled from 1987-2004.
Nearly half of today's population of foster kids are under the age of
ten. As daunting as the challenges are that foster kids, foster families
and the child welfare system face, there are informational resources
and success stories to share.
